The Light Within
As we approach the end of the year, I often tend to find myself reflecting on the light that dwells within each of us. This inner light represents our values, hopes & the potential to inspire those around us. In a world that often feels heavy, nurturing this light can lead us to greater understanding & connection.
In moments of darkness, remember that even the smallest light can illuminate the path ahead. Let's embrace the power of kindness, compassion & creativity as we carry this light into the new year. 🤗
Every year our pastor reads this poem at the Christmas Eve service & it always brings up so many emotions, I thought to share with you all, too. It's such a beautiful reminder of the impact one life can have:
One Solitary Life
He was born in an obscure village,
The child of a peasant woman.
He grew up in another village,
Where he worked in a carpenter shop
Until he was thirty.
Then for three years he was an itinerant preacher.
He never wrote a book.
He never held an office.
He never owned a home.
He didn't go to college.
He never visited a big city.
He never traveled two hundred miles from the place where he was born.
He did none of the things
One usually associates with greatness.
He had no credentials but himself.
He was only thirty-three
When the tide of public opinion turned against him.
His friends ran away.
One of them denied him.
He was turned over to his enemies.
He went through the mockery of a trial.
He was nailed to a cross between two thieves.
While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing,
The only property he had on earth.
When he was dead,
He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.
Nineteen centuries have come and gone,
And today he is the centerpiece of the human race
And the leader of mankind.
All the armies that ever marched,
All the navies that ever sailed,
All the parliaments that ever sat,
All the kings that ever reigned,
Put together, have not affected the life of man on this earth
As much as that one solitary life.
🤍
Let us carry the message of this poem into our lives, recognizing the profound impact of a single individual & the light we can all share. As we close this chapter & step into the next, may we shine brightly in our communities & beyond. 😊
Wishing you peace and joy, from our family to yours, Merry Christmas & a most Happy New Year!
