Sunshine Minds

How it's going vs how it started.😊

When Mark & I were dating, we would go on walks together often. During one of these walks we came upon an old tree that immediately drew us near. We would visit this tree, place our hands on it, picnic & sit by it. We named it Earl. Earl became extra special when Mark decided to propose to me by it one brisk November morning. The 2nd pic was taken underneath it & we ended up calling it 'Sunshine Minds' because no matter the weather, Earl always seemed to bring out the sun in our mindset.🌞

On our anniversary this year we spent the afternoon visiting some of our old stomping grounds, including the homes we used to live in & ended by visiting Earl, having a picnic & playing in the park. It was one of those blissful early fall days where it almost felt like time decided to stand still, even for a brief moment. 😊

It was a day that was so needed for my soul. No money in the world could buy what I felt ringing throughout my body -- immense gratitude for not just that day, but for everything in between that led us here after 12 years of marriage.

Marriage (& relationships in general) are not easy per say. They take a lot of work, no doubt, but one thing I've learned most is that we need to always turn inwards towards each other, even when we don't want to.

ESPECIALLY when we don't want to.

We have to let go of our pride & humble our self.

We have to learn to get quiet & hear God's whispers & guidance.

We have to try to see each other through Jesus goggles, not our human (often distorted) lens.

We have to trust.

And sometimes, we just have to take pause & reflect on where we started to where we are now. Trying to find some joy, even in the mess, knowing that when we come out on the other side, we will be that much closer & better for it.

Wherever this finds you, remember it’s the small, consistent actions that strengthen your bond with another. Whether it’s a heartfelt conversation, a surprise date night, or simply listening to each other, every bit of hard work counts!

Embrace the journey together, and know that your commitment today will create a beautiful tomorrow. Keep investing & nurturing your love! 🌟
