Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving & somehow, completely unplanned, it also happens to be the 100th day of my #100daysoflivingAWAKE challenge to myself. God sure does have a sense of humor now doesn't He?

As I reflect on these past 100 days, I see so much growth & reflection. So much release & grace. And above all, SO much to be THANKFUL for... even among the heaviness & undeniable pain felt across the world. It's been an eye-opening journey, that's for sure.

My friend @amanda.menchinger posted this quote today & it really summed up what I was feeling so perfectly :

"Life is so short. We spend so much time sweating the small stuff; worrying, complaining, gossiping, comparing, wishing, wanting and waiting for something bigger and better instead of focusing on all the simple blessings that surround us everyday. Life is so fragile and all it takes is a single moment to change everything you take for granted. Focus on what's important and be grateful! You are blessed! Believe it! Live your life and leave no regrets."

Focusing on the simple blessings has been what God has placed most on my heart this season. It is in the moments that I am all snuggled up with my family on our couch, my arms tightly around each of my children & next to my husband that I feel like I never want it to end. Hugs, kisses, laughter, creating, adventuring, learning, reading, saying 'I love you' (a lot), apologizing from the heart, & always leaving room to grow... these are the riches in life that are free and always at your disposal.

The irony in life is that, no matter what, there is always room for Thanksgiving. Truly. In every thing, give thanksgiving & place it on your heart that every God-given day has the ability to be the best day of the year.
