Healthy Chocolate Frosting

#100daysoflivingAWAKE day 6. Living awake has got me thinking even more about how food affects us & what it means to really listen to what my body needs. Not even a week in, I am already really feeling the difference by just slowing down a bit, letting go of being so hyper-focused on macros, etc. & instead R E A L L Y listening to what my body is telling me it actually needs.

And lets be honest -- it's not only natural to crave something sweet, but it can also be good for you, too. I recently put together this 'healthy' chocolate frosting (with only 5 ingredients) & it has been a HUGE hit in our house. What I like about it, other than the clean ingredients, is that I can add it to the kids plates as an easy dessert, even as a dip if need be! They get BEYOND excited & I'm happy it's a sweet that is actually good for them, too. #winwin

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup nut butter of your choice
2 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 cup cacao powder
6 tbsp nut, seed or oat milk
1 tsp or dash of cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:
1) Heat the nut butter of your choice in a microwave safe bowl for about 30 seconds (or you can use a stainless steel double boiler pot, instead).

2) Next, add the nut milk, cacao powder, maple syrup & cinnamon. Be sure to stir it until it is smooth with no lumps of the cacao powder.

3) You can enjoy it right away or put in a sealed pyrex bowl & keep in your refrigerator.

PS. Feel free to add more maple syrup if you would like it sweeter or even a dash of celtic salt if you want it sweet & salty.

THAT'S IT! Let me know if you give it a try. XO
