i was busy away working on the computer, editing & just trying to (as always!) keep on top of everything & then, Mike walks into the room with this tiny cute little precious fuschia flower in his hand, silent & smiling. i stop & of course, as most girls would, awe at the sight of him with the flower & that he thought to pick it for me. "how romantic!!" it made me smile so BIG. i asked him where he picked it from & he said from my garden. it then made me stop & think for a moment -- ' am i truly that busy that i don't even know my own flowers in my own garden!?' i am ashamed to say that the answer is "yes" -- i don't remember my last day off at all & as most photographers would testify during this busy season, there is just something constant to be doing at all times of the day! i am not complaining one bit, though, because I truly love, love, LOVE what i do & feel so grateful everyday that i am where i am. however, instead, this all made me think....
you see, some of my biggest mottos have always been to live each day like it was my last, to always appreciate the small things in life, to never take anything for granted & to tell the ones that i love that i love them every single time we speak or get together. : ) the funny thing about life (that probably most of us can relate to) is that we get so caught up in the everyday pattern of things that we almost forget to stop & smell the roses - or "life" to say it a bit differently - sometimes. to make time to chat with a good old friend, or take your niece or nephew to a Sunday matinee, write a card, make plans to have coffee with a sibling,... or being the time of year it is, to take a stroll through a cider mill & snack on some scrumptious sugar donuts & fresh cider : ) -- amongst so many other things!
& then today, it rained all day and it made me SO very happy. what a perfect Monday; the smell of fall is finally in the air and the air is fresh & crisp, the leaves are changing, & the soft sound of the rain soothed me as i worked away in my little studio. today, i looked at my flower & then at the rainy day outside & took a moment to just be. to savor that moment & everything around me. today, i remembered to take the time & it felt so great!
today or tomorrow or whenever you may read this i wish you a day filled with smiles & laughter & everything little or big that makes your world bright & happy. : )
& to my mikey, thank you for making my world a fantastic mesh of the brightest, happiest colors. i love you.
with love & gratitude,
ksen
