The Difference A Day...

Nov 11, 2010 Jaime

as a new mother,,, each day i am introduced to new challenges that i seriously was not expecting pre-baby !
before he was born, most of my encounters with advice-giving, experienced parents would result in them telling me to "get your sleep now,,,"
i took their words to heart and probably slept 10 hours most nights
((hoping it would influence my unborn baby to sleep just as long after birth,,,,))
nice try, me !

he, like many babies, went through a "wakeful period" and stirred my evening home into a disco of white noise, a trying father, a crying mother, and a general cloud of uptightness that felt as if it'd never dissipate,,,

and then in just one day,,,

it did...
the next night as my baby boy drifted into his first few hours of a NEW & IMPROVED 12-hour sleep plan,,,
i lied in bed filled with emotion. i felt like i suddenly understood what everyone meant when they say that babies grow up too fast.
thrilled by his ability to truly sleep through the night, and even excited for my own freedom due to this new change, i also wondered,,,

what happened??

in just one day,,,, my upside-down home went from a scary place to a confident sanctuary. i knew that when it was time for him to sleep,
he would and that i could too.

in just one day,,, i transformed from a tired & overwhelmed lady who felt she knew NOTHING about parenting, into a suave mom of an also much happier baby! my husband and i both agreed that there was a calmness throughout not only our home, but also in each of our days.
when i asked him his ideas on blogging,,,
his response :

"the difference a day can make..."

the difference ONE DAY meant, for me, so much more than just catching some zzz's,
and all of this has reminded me that EACH day is a day that can truly make a BIG difference !
so if you are struggling with life's difficulties or merely seeking inspiration, know that
each and every day carries with it opportunity and c h a n g e ...
some of which we have control over, and some of which we do not... but in the end --

it may only take a day.
