Blog.vs.website?
here's a question recently asked:
Ksenija, etc., How much do you think a blog has added to your business? I only have a website in need of updating, and am considering canceling the site and switching to a blog only, based on how functional and interactive they seem to be. When you have a blog like this one, for example, is a site necessary?
thanks for the great question & gosh -- I don't know where to start! I absolutely LOOOOVE my blog (if I could underline that & highlight it in hot pink, as well as leave it bold, i would!!). no, but seriously my blog has added so much to my business & allowed me to constantly update my clients (along with friends & family!) as to what I am up to, as well as just be myself & allow others to get to know me a bit better. on the same note, i do absolutely LOVE my website, as well. i feel that my website allows someone who might not be as comfortable with "searching" a blog, to feel at ease finding all the neccessary information for their wants & needs, along with answers to many important questions. i also feel that my website allows me to share a ton of information -- putting all that information on my blog might be a bit difficult or even feel a bit cluttered.
now, of course this is not to say that you cannot make a blog more like a website with different galleries, faq's, etc. -- which is why I think that this is such a great question! all in all, i feel that for me, having a website & a blog allow my clients choices as to where they like to look & search. i have also noticed that some people do not fully understand what a blog is until they have worked with me and seen their post on the blog. just some food for thought!
one of the many wonderful things about photography is that you are always learning something new & always, always, always wanting to do what is best for yourself, your business & your clients!
i am definitely no expert! just sharing my thoughts & viewpoints on the question.
