"Like many situations I’d been through before, I knew there was a choice that was mine to make: Would I walk in fear or faith?

It was faith that had always propelled me forward through my circumstances in the past, so I chose faith. That didn’t mean, however, that the fear went away. It still tempted me, but I knew that being tempted with fear wasn’t the same as giving into it—and not giving into it was the only way I could overcome its grip."

These words were written by Christine Caine in a plan called, “Unexpected” that she created & I have been doing on the Bible App. I wanted to share because ever since this year began, I have been reminded about how important it is to let faith, not fear, be our compass.

With the current quarantine situation we are faced with, I don't think there could be a better time for this timely reminder, yet again. For me, having faith has always given me not only great (& at times inexplicable) peace, but also instilled HOPE within me. Don't get me wrong, this isn't an instant cure all -- it is a daily, sometimes by the hour, practice. As we all know (lately, far too well), fear WILL tempt us -- BUT, the more we practice walking in faith, the more easily it comes to extinguish our fears and help us feel grounded & comforted. Personally, I will choose FAITH over fear time & time again.

Some ways I practice walking in my faith are writing (blogging, journaling, etc), praying (which to me is having a conversation with God at any point in my day), doing a daily devotional, inspiring plans (like "Unexpected"), calling up a good friend who I know will walk in faith with me & help remind me of truth when I really need the reminder, attending Kensington Church (online now ), & being a part of a small group.

So tell me, friend -- what are you choosing these days? Are you walking in fear or in FAITH?

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” -- 2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV
