INTENTIONAL REST

#100daysoflivingAWAKE day 15. Today started off really strong — early morning workout, play date at the playground, picnic lunch, spontaneous haircuts at home for the kiddos followed by bath's — all before nap time.

And then, I crashed. It all just hit me. The nonstop pace we’ve been at for the last couple of days & I was just, e x h a u s t e d. I literally felt like I was sinking in (quick)sand. I sat down & tried to get some work done but instead found myself staring at my computer screen. I just didn’t have it in me. Completely drained.

So I did something I literally never do (but know I should definitely do more often) — I took a nap. I resisted it, but am so happy I just did it.

It's becoming more & more clear to me how easy it is to talk the talk, but not walk the walk. I am teaching my children how important it is to rest, yet not making enough time for it myself. It's so easy to allow excuses & life to get in the way, isn't it? How often do we just (coffee) go, go, go (more coffee), go?

Interestingly enough, setting the intention to live AWAKE to what the day brings means that you actually NEED to be intentional about REST, as well.
